More info

Are PS plastic products recycable?

Polystyrene (PS) is recyclable, though the process is complex and costly, often limiting its economic viability. Polystyrene is not generally accepted in kerb side recycling bins. Nevertheless, specialised companies exist that focus on recycling PS and repurposing it into new materials. Some councils do have specific drop-off locations or collection days.

Pakchain can supply you with alternative products which are easier to recycle or are fully compostable.

Is PE lined paper/cardboard recycable?

A PE lining is made from polyethylene. This can be recycled but needs a special facility. PE lined products are not generally accepted in kerb side recycling bins.

For recycling PE lined coffee cups contact 'Simply Cups' who have more than 1,500 drop off points.

Are ABS Plastic products recycable?

ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is a tough, impact-resistant thermoplastic widely used in manufacturing. It is prized for its balance of strength, rigidity, and affordability.

As it is a thermoplastic ABS is theoretically recyclable, but it is not accepted in standard yellow-lid household bins in Australia. Because ABS is mostly used in electronics, appliances, and 3D printing, it requires specialized commercial processing to avoid contaminating the standard recycling stream.
